Job Description: Field Engineer

G.Network is changing connectivity in London. As a 100% full fibre network, we are digging streets and deploying fibre to the premises (FTTP) across central London, offering world class products supported by industry leading service.

Private Equity backed and founder led, G.Network has ambitious expansion plans and as a consequence is looking for a Fibre Surveyor / Installer to help us realise them.

The Role

The work is all based in Central London. You will be attending customer sites to determine the best route to install Fibre optic network lines, coming in from the street to the customer's premises.

The Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting company designs as per internal governance.
  • Carrying out area surveys.
  • Carrying out risk assessments and method statements.
  • Meet with clients and resolve any issues.
  • Receiving fibre splicing work orders form the planning team and performing the tasks in line with internal KPIs

You Have:

  • Experience working on FTTP/ FTTC projects
  • Core drilling
  • Attention to detail
  • Previous experience in working with a carrier such as Openreach, Virgin Media is advantageous.
  • Ability to read SLD Telecom construction blueprints is essential.
  • Understanding routing of fibre mapping from a PON and a point to point network
  • SLD interpretation
  • Experience of working in teams
  • An excellent understanding of FTTP/FTTC build activities
  • An excellent understanding in PON and active ethernet technologies
  • Knowledge of fibre types
  • Previous experience operating iOLM and OTDR
  • Experience in fibre splicing
  • Experience in running CAT6 cabling
  • Use of Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Experience with fusion splicers
  • Strong multitasking & problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, customer handling and inter-personal skills, via phone, or face to face.
  • Strong planning, organising and prioritising abilities.
