Sustainability and carbon reduction.
We are committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions.
We’re working hard to reduce our carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and stay committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
These figures show that our fleet is a comparably far greener than it was previously.
Our initiatives
Our operations
- We switched to an all-electric fleet in FY23/24, massively reducing our reliance on fossil fuels whilst reducing its carbon footprint. As a result, fleet emissions from petrol were reduced by 50% and diesel emissions were reduced by 86%. Just 13% of fleet emissions were from fossil fuels in 23/24, compared with 44% the previous year.
- We switched to a smaller office with all-electric heating in August 2023. Significantly reducing our reliance on fossil fuels.
- Natural gas consumption from office activities is down 86.2% from the previous year. Our smaller office does not use any natural gas, only electricity.
- Electricity consumption is down 19.7%.
- Emissions generated by water usage are down 51.7%.
- We will continue to develop methods of reducing our carbon footprint across the lifecycle of our connections.
Our supply chain
- In September 2023, we signed a multi-year contract with Unipart Logistics to deliver a wide range of logistic services including better recycling, to make us a more efficient and sustainable business.
- We will continue to work with our supply chain to gather more data across the lifecycle of our materials and products and to make our practices and processes more efficient to ensure we reduce our overall carbon footprint.
Our employees
- We encourage our employees improve their commute to reduce the impact on the environment. We offer the opportunity to colleagues to borrow up to £1,000 to spend on a new bike so they can ride to work if it’s viable.
- We also ease the expense of commuting for those who chose public transport with a loan of up to £3,000 to purchase an annual or season ticket.
